Purchasing Manager/Director
Location: Shanghai
Position: Purchasing Manager
Responsibilities:
● Overall responsible for raw material purchasing, supplier management and sourcing activities for China operations
● Develop and realize China operational purchasing strategy; Conduct and deploy cost reduction plan to reach the business targets of the purchasing department
● Drive China purchasing organization to assure the proper raw material supply of China plants and optimize the ratio of local supply
● Lead of supply contracts negotiation and investigation of supplier market
● Supervise the implementation of China Purchasing Standards and procurement systems and processes
● Standardize and drive continuous improvement on supplier management and evaluation in terms of service, prices, delivery conditions, payment conditions and warranties
● Optimize and explore supplier panel and new supplier development through benchmarking studies
● Maintain close relationships and effective commutations with other cross-functional managers with respect to purchasing aspects
● Act as a contract widow between China operations and global divisions/departments with regards to all purchasing related affairs
● Support the execution of the regional/global purchasing projects/strategies in China
● Report to Managing Director and perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
● Bachelor degree or above, ideally with chemicals/materials background or commercial education with good technical understanding
● Rich experience in a similar role in chemicals industry
● International purchasing experience is a plus
● Preferable experience and technical knowledge in chemicals, specialty materials technologies
● Good knowledge of the market/trends and new suppliers developments
● Outstanding problem solving ability
● Familiar with standard tools like MS-Word, MS-Excel, MS-Power-Point and SAP
● Good in English (both spoken and written)
● Strategic thinking, structured approach of tasks
● Proficiency in communication and negotiation skills on an international basis
● Proactive and strong implementation ability
● Convincing leadership as behavior model, team player and motivator for subordinates
● Good people management skill and ability of decision-making
● Ability to deliver results under pressure
● Highly credible, honest and reliable
